Welcome to Gold Lion Visual Café

Looking to the shared signing community of Lantz Mills, Virginia, this cafe aims to create a visually accessible third space that's open to all. This cafe features a variety of visual ordering options--place an order via tablet, ASL, writing, gesture, or via an interpreter. Guided by principles of Deaf Space, and in collaboration with the Deaf community, the intentional layout supports communication, comfort, and community. Whether you sign fluently, are learning for the first time, or simply want to experience a more inclusive cafe model, this space is for you. A new space designed with and for the Deaf and signing community, coming to 6201 Lakeside Ave

Gold Lion is growing in a way that feels deeply true to our mission: building spaces where everyone belongs. Our second location — Gold Lion Visual Café — is being created from the ground up with accessibility and connection at the heart of every decision.

We’re also adding coffee pickup and on-site parking, making it easier for the whole community to swing by, grab a drink, and connect. As the space is small, we will be focused on non-alcoholic beverages and a small selection of vegan eats.

As we prepare to open, we’re inviting volunteers to help bring the space to life. If you’ve been looking for a way to get involved, this is your moment.

Volunteer With Us

We’re seeking people who can help with:

  • Landscaping & gardening (plants, beds, outdoor cleanup)

  • Painting & touch-ups

  • Light carpentry or small repairs

  • Organizing, cleaning, and setup

  • Or anything else you’d love to contribute — skills, ideas, creativity

No experience is required. Come as you are — individuals, families, neighbors, students, ASL learners, community groups, everyone is welcome.

This café will be a place built by many hands, and we’d love yours to be part of its story.
